CMS Activities cancellations Middle School Activities have been canceled for this weekend. We will reschedule the basketball games with Ulysses at a later date. Homecoming King and Queen Crowned


Jordan O'Malley and Alex Vapp were crowned Queen and King at the Winter Homecoming ceremony during the CHS vs. Goodland Wrestling dual on January 5th.

Colby Wrestling Team Downs Goodland

The CHS Wrestling Team defeated the Goodland Cowboys 42-24 on Thursday, January 5th.  The 2016 State Championship Team and banner was recognized between the JV and Varsity matches.

Sunflower Bank Announces the ABC Program ABC program CMS Student Wins Essay Contest

Colby Middle School 8th grade student Ryan Myers was awarded second place and a $1000 prize in the 2016 Learning Quest Essay Contest.  Over 700 essays were submitted to be reviewed and Ryan’s essay which featured a role model he looks up to was chosen to receive recognition.  Students were asked to write about a role model and communicate their vision for the their future as well as what goals they’ve set for themselves.

Congratulations, and great job, Ryan!

 

CHS Boys basketball vs. Hays HS rescheduled The Colby HS boys only basketball games vs. Hays HS boys that were cancelled on Friday, December 16th due to bad weather, have been rescheduled for Saturday, February 18th with the same start times - 4:45, 6:30, and 8:00PM.  All games will be played at the Colby High School gym at 1890 S. Franklin in Colby, KS.

CHS Wrestler Signs Letter of Intent to CCC

CHS student athlete Tate Carney signed a letter of Intent to wrestle at Colby Community College next season.  Tate is a 3 time State Wrestling tournament qualifier placing 2nd in 2014, 3rd in 2015, and 2nd in 2016.  Congratulations to Tate Carney and his family!

CMS Student Wins Grand Prize in State Art Contest

Congratulations to CMS 8th grade student Cami Andrews! Cami's Artwork was chosen as the Grand Prize winner in the 2016-17 Kansas: Keep It Clean Calendar Art contest. This yearly contest is hosted by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and features student artwork for each month of the year.

The goal of the calendar is to increase awareness of environmental issues such as natural resource conservation, waste management, recycling and general "greening" activities.

The Kansas Dept. of Health and Environment will be hosting Cami, her family, and CMS Art teacher Lamoreaux Fulwider at a reception at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center in Topeka, KS on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 10 a.m.  Great Job, Cami!

CHS Tech Classes Receive Grant

The Colby High School Tech class received a $225 Grant from Midwest Energy. The funds will be used to continue projects in the Foundations of Technology Class (Tech 1) for the school year. We would like to thank Midwest Energy for sponsoring that grant and helping our students reach their full potential.

KANSAS ASSESSMENT PARENT GUIDE 2016


The Kansas Assessment Program has released a Parent Guide to understanding the results of the Kansas Assessments that were conducted in the Spring of 2016.  USD 315 staff will be referring to this guide when visiting about the results of the assessments.  Keep in mind that not all grade levels took the assessments last Spring so this information may not be applicable to your student.  Feel free to visit with your child’s teacher to know more about understanding the assessments. You can access the document under the Public Notifiications tab or at the link below. You can also access the document on the Facebook pages of each building.

Tuesday Night School at CHS Colby High School offers Tuesday Night School for High School students on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-8:30 p.m. in the library of the high school.  Tuesday Night School offers the following services:
        • Academic support for English, Science, Math and Social Studies         • Access to computers and printers         • Library and media resources         • A quiet place to work on course assignments        • A certified teacher is on site         • Career Counseling and Scheduling Services--open to parents and students         • Students needing specific assistance should make prior arrangements with Mrs. Rundel
