An unconfirmed case of Mumps has been reported in USD 315 Colby Schools. USD 315 has followed the Center for Disease Control and Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s exclusion guidelines for a student with suspected Mumps.
Symptoms of Mumps include: pain, tenderness, and swelling in one or both parotid salivary glands (cheek and jaw area), low grade fever, headache, fatigue, muscle aches, and loss of appetite. If your child exhibits these symptoms, please contact USD 315 and your healthcare provider immediately.
Exclusion from school may occur for students that have been exempted from the mumps vaccination for medical, religious, or other reasons.

Results of the CHS JV basketball tournament
The CHS JV girls finished in second place at the CHS JV basketball tourney on Feb. 2nd. Dundy County finished in second place defeating CHS 49-17. The CHS JV boys took 3rd place defeating Dundy County 48-28.
Mr. Joey Nickols Nominated for Arts Award
Congratulations to Mr. Joey Nickols for being selected as one of 4 nominees for the “KSHSAA Heart of the Arts Award”. The winner of the award will be announced in February. If selected, Mr. Nickols’ name will be submitted in consideration for national recognition by the National Federation of State High School Activities. This is the 3rd year of the award which recognizes outstanding acts of character and leadership, demonstrating the true heart of the arts in educational performing arts programs.
CHS Boys basketball vs. Hays HS rescheduled
The Colby HS boys only basketball games vs. Hays HS boys that were cancelled on Friday, December 16th due to bad weather, have been rescheduled for Saturday, February 18th with the same start times - 4:45, 6:30, and 8:00PM. All games will be played at the Colby High School gym at 1890 S. Franklin in Colby, KS.
KANSAS ASSESSMENT PARENT GUIDE 2016
The Kansas Assessment Program has released a Parent Guide to understanding the results of the Kansas Assessments that were conducted in the Spring of 2016. USD 315 staff will be referring to this guide when visiting about the results of the assessments. Keep in mind that not all grade levels took the assessments last Spring so this information may not be applicable to your student. Feel free to visit with your child’s teacher to know more about understanding the assessments. You can access the document under the Public Notifiications tab or at the link below. Tuesday Night School at CHS
Colby High School offers Tuesday Night School for High School students on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-8:30 p.m. in the library of the high school. Tuesday Night School offers the following services:
• Academic support for English, Science, Math and Social
• Access to computers and printers
• Library and media resources
• A quiet place to work on course assignments
• A certified teacher is on site
